FAQ
HOW DO I DETERMINE IF MY WATCH REQUIRES SERVICE AND IF IT IS IN OR OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY?
If your watch is no longer keeping time, this is generally an indicator that the battery needs replaced. On occasion, the movement may require servicing, which is covered under the warranty. Other examples of damages to the watch which require service are generally not covered under the warranty :
HOW DO I RETURN A WATCH FOR REPAIR?
If you have a watch that requires repair or service, fill out the Customer Service Repair form and include it with the watch for service. Customers should email Customer Service Center to notify them of the shipment.
HOW LONG DOES A REPAIR TAKE?
Customers can generally expect their repair to take 10-14 days once received in a local service center.
HOW DO I ORDER EXTRA LINKS FOR MY WATCH?
In the United States, extra links can be ordered by calling the BEDROCK WATCH COMPANY CUSTOMER SERVICE at 1-844-329-5842 with debit or credit card information. Please have your watch’s style number ready (located on the back of your watch) so our representatives can assist you. There is a limited number of links, therefore the quantity cannot be guaranteed.
WHERE ARE MARC JACOBS WATCHES MADE?
Marc Jacobs watches are made of the highest quality components sourced globally. The movements used in Marc Jacobs are sourced in Japan or Swiss components assembled in Thailand. The watches themselves are assembled in China, but the country of origin of watches is actually determined by the country of origin of the movement.
WHAT IS THE GLASS ON THE WATCH MADE OF?
Marc Jacobs watches all feature K1 Hardened Mineral Crystals. K1 is a treated glass which has a higher scratch resistance than regular mineral glass but still is prone to scratch (unlike Sapphire). The glass is also prone to breakage if it falls or hits an object. Once your glass is scratched or breaks there is not much you can do to remedy this other than replace the glass.
HOW DO MAGNETIC FIELDS AFFECT MY TIMEPIECE?
The exposure of your watch to strong magnetic fields, such as loudspeakers, tablets or smart phones, will affect its time keeping ability and may cause it to stop. A quartz watch will resume working with original accuracy when it is removed from the magnetic field.
WHAT DOES ATM MEAN?
ATM is a term used to indicate whether the customer can wear their timepiece in or around the water. ATM stands for atmosphere. This is a measurement of water-pressure the watch, which increases as the watch is submerged to great depths. This is indicated in meters. 3 atm = 30 meters will withstand splashes of water or light rain but should not be worn while showering. 5 atm = 50 meters is suitable for showering but should not be worn while swimming. 10 atm = 100 meters is suitable for swimming but should not be worn while diving.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OPTIMAL WATER-RESISTANCE
HOT WATER: A watch should never be worn in a sauna, a shower or a bath as hot water may damage its water-resistance seals.
SEA WATER: If your watch is exposed to salt water, rinse the timepiece with fresh water to prevent the salt from damaging water-resistance seals.
WHAT IS A QUARTZ MOVEMENT?
A quartz movement is battery powered. The battery supplies energy to the quartz, which measures time. Quartz watches are highly precise – they are accurate to within 1 minute a year/ less than 1 second a day. The battery life for quartz watches is approximately two to four years depending on the movement type. For this reason, quartz movements require minimal maintenance. We recommend changing a run down battery quickly to avoid potential leakage that can damage the movement.
WATCH DETAILS
CASE
Marc Jacobs watches are predominately one piece case constructions that enable the case to be rounded with soft curves. The softness of the case is mirrored on the back side giving each watch a fluid feeling.
DIAL
Marc Jacobs dials are simple in form and function. Dials range from polished background with no indexing to delicate sunray finish with rounded hour markers. Marc Jacobs also uses a synthetic, lab grown, opal which provides all the aesthetic features of opal but with no environmental impact and a more durable material.
PVD COATING
PVD is a process used to deposit layers of material atomby-atom or molecule-by-molecule on a solid surface. Whether the vapor source is a liquid or solid the process is called physical vapor deposition (PVD). PVD coatings are harder and more corrosion resistant than coatings applied by the electroplating process. PVD coatings have high temperature, good impact strength, and excellent abrasion resistance.
STRAP
Marc Jacobs straps are made of genuine leather and feature a hypoallergenic black leather lining. Each strap is marked with the collection name in gold foil hot stamp. The cuff watches are a signature design featuring a swing lug construction and strap stud
BRACELETS
Marc Jacobs bracelets are all solid stainless steel construction with substantial weight and quality in construction. Each bracelet uses a butterfly deployant with push button closure and features the Marc Jacobs signature screw heads. All bracelets are split hair pin construction so links can easily be adjusted to fit any size wrist.
SETTING THE TIME
CARE & PRECAUTION
Each Marc Jacobs watch is designed and manufactured to the highest of standards. Unlike most other mechanical objects, a watch operates non-stop. In order to ensure optimal performance and longevity from your Marc Jacobs watch, please review the simple guidelines for care and precautions.
CARE
- Clean your watch with a soft cloth and water only. Do not submerge your watch under water unless it is water rated.
- After saltwater use, rinse watch under tap water and wipe dry with a soft cloth.
- Metal bracelets should be cleaned periodically. Clean with a soft brush dipped in mild soapy water and dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
- We advise having your timepiece serviced every 18 – 24 months to ensure long use and trouble free operation.
PRECAUTIONS
Your timepiece is a complex integration of parts and components brought together by skilled craftsmen. There are certain actions or environmental situations that may damage or impede your timepiece’s ability to perform optimally. It is important to avoid the following conditions: extreme heat or cold, as well as prolonged periods of exposure to direct sunlight, exposure to wet conditions that exceed your timepiece’s water rating. (See chart). Your timepiece should not be affected by magnetic fields generated by household items such as televisions and stereos, but avoidance of other strong electric fields or static electricity, which may interrupt the mechanism, is suggested. It is also important to avoid extreme shock or impact.
POWER SAVING MECHANISM
In order to extend the battery life of your watch when it's not in use, gently pull the movement stem/crown out until you feel it click. This will reduce battery power consumption by 70%. Please note that this is the same stem/crown position that is used to perform a quick TIME SETTING. If your watch features a screw-down crown, follow the instructions at the beginning of this manual to release the crown before pulling it out all the way.
WATER RESISTANCE
All Marc Jacobs watches are designed with a minimum water resistance rating of 3ATM (100ft / 30m).
The water-resistance of a timepiece protects the movement from dust, moisture, and risk of damage to the movement should it be immersed in water. Please see chart for guide-lines for recommended exposure of various water ratings.
It is important not to attempt to adjust the position of the crown while the timepiece is in contact with water. Water can enter the case causing damage to the movement.
